Dustin’s work is all about helping individuals, families and businesses achieve financial freedom. With a personal approach, he works closely with clients to create and talk through strategies that align with their unique goals — whether it’s planning for retirement, managing wealth or navigating life’s financial complexities.

This mission is deeply personal. At just 21, Dustin witnessed his family lose everything during the financial crisis of 2008-2009. His father, a respected leader in the community and owner of a successful benefits consulting firm, had built his business on a major contract with GM. But when the automotive giant collapsed, so did the firm. That experience left an indelible mark, teaching Dustin the importance of diversification, resilience and proactive planning — values he now brings to every client relationship.

Originally from New York, Dustin was inspired by his grandfather, a NYSE portfolio manager, to pursue a career in finance. After earning his degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee, he began his career at one of the world’s largest tax management firms. His ambition and drive led him back to New York, where he worked as a financial analyst at one of the country’s largest banks and honed his skills through various roles on Wall Street. While these experiences shaped his expertise, Dustin realized the constraints of the corporate sector and decided to embrace entrepreneurship to better serve his clients.

This decision led to the founding of Freedom First Retirement Design, an independent firm dedicated to providing bold, personalized financial plans that help pave the way to financial freedom. Dustin’s approachable style and authoritative knowledge set him apart as a trusted guide for Atlanta’s professionals and families.
 

Bianca is a dedicated CPA renowned for her extensive financial experience gained at some of the largest public accounting and asset management firms worldwide. She excels in both portfolio construction and client-facing roles, demonstrating a well-rounded understanding of financial management.

Outside the financial realm, Bianca finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. She’s an enthusiastic home cook, avid traveler and key supporter of the Lonsdale Elementary financial literacy initiative. Spending cherished moments with her family is a cornerstone of her life philosophy: fostering connections that matter deeply to her.

Fueling her adventurous spirit, Bianca embraces cycling as a hobby. Whether exploring scenic paths or challenging herself with long rides, she finds both physical and mental refreshment on two wheels.
 

Jim brings to Freedom First Retirement more than 30 years of both domestic and international executive and entrepreneurial experience across multiple industries and functional disciplines.

Prior to joining Freedom First Retirement, Jim held executive management positions within both the Blackstone and New Mountain Capital private equity enterprise portfolios. Subsequent to receiving his degree from Syracuse University, Jim held positions of increasing responsibility with Honeywell before successfully starting a highly regarded international consulting services firm.

An avid sports fan, Jim continues to enjoy spending time with his children and grandchildren while continuing to engage with numerous charitable organizations.

Melissa Taggert serves as the Director of Client Services at Freedom First Retirement Design, where she is dedicated to ensuring every client feels informed, supported, and confident in their retirement journey. With a strong background in client relations and operational management, Melissa brings both precision and warmth to her role.

She oversees day-to-day client communications, account servicing, and operational workflows, making sure each family we serve receives the personalized attention and care they deserve. Known for her attention to detail and compassionate approach, Melissa is often the first point of contact for clients and plays a key role in delivering the Freedom First promise of service with integrity.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys playing tennis, spending time at the beach, and keeping up with her family. Her ability to balance professionalism with a genuine, approachable style makes her an invaluable part of the Freedom First team.
